It’s ideal when native SATA power cables are scarce, during quick upgrades, repairs, or in compact builds where space and cable routing are at a premium. Plug-and-play by design, it delivers reliable power without any soldering or cable modification. Technical specifications
- Interface: Molex LP4 (4-pin) to SATA power (15-pin) connector
- Wires: four-conductor configuration with standard colour coding (yellow = 12V, red = 5V, black = ground)
- Housing: robust moulded plastic with durable pin contacts for repeated connections
- Power rails supplied: 12V and 5V from the Molex side to the SATA power interface; 3.3V rail is not provided
- Compatibility: powers standard SATA HDDs and 2.5"/3.5" SATA SSDs where the PSU has spare Molex connectors; not suitable for PCIe devices Setup and installation
- Connect the Molex end to the PSU, then attach the SATA end to the drive’s power port
- Ensure the PSU rail can supply the drive’s power needs; avoid daisy-chaining multiple adapters on a single Molex line
